Murang’a Woman Rescued After Jumping Into Well to Save Son

A woman, on Wednesday, escaped death by a whisk after villagers rescued her from drowning in a well in Geitwa, Kiharu Constituency, Murangโ€™a County.

According to reports, the mother was trying to save her son, who had accidentally fallen in the well.

The woman, owing to her maternal instincts, plunged into the depths of the well without a moment’s hesitation.

However, her efforts were in vain as the son, a Grade Six student at Githanga Primary School, unfortunately, died before she could save him.

She was later rushed to the hospital, where she received first aid, and doctors cleared her. However, they confirmed that the son succumbed to drowning and fatal water intoxication.

The incident came hours after a family in General China, Mathira, in Nyeri, retrieved the body of their daughter from a dam.

According to the grieving parents, the daughter, who had missing for over two days, was found dumped in the water body in the same area.

Her cause of death was yet to be ascertained, as the family hoped that a scheduled postmortem would clear the uncertainty. They thus called on the government to fast-track investigations and arrest any suspects linked to the case.

In Kirinyaga, a grade seven pupil was found lifeless in a swimming pool in Kirinyaga county, where the family was vacationing during the New Yearโ€™s celebrations.

Police attached to Kiamaciri Police Station were deployed to cordon the area and commence investigations into the 13-year-old’s death.
