Mukami Kimathi, Widow of Dedan Kimathi, Dies in Nairobi.
On Friday, Mukami Kimathi, who was 101 years old, passed away at a hospital in the city.
She was the widow of the well-known freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi.
Since the 5th of January, when she was admitted to a nearby health facility after exhibiting symptoms of pneumonia, the deceased has been in and out of the hospital on multiple occasions.
Later, on the 12th of January, she was released from the facility after President William Ruto paid off the Ksh. 1 million bills that had prevented her from leaving the premises.

During his remarks on Friday morning at the Lee Funeral Home. Where he was expressing his condolences to Mukami’s kin. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua mourned the deceased as a stalwart freedom fighter. Who had played a key role in liberating Kenya from its colonial master.
Gachagua described Mukami as having been a man of unwavering conviction.
“We are really sad that we have lost this freedom fighter,” said DP Gachagua, who noted that the State would work in tandem with Mukami’s kin to give her a proper send-off.

Moses Kuria, the Secretary of the Cabinet for Trade, paid tribute to Mukami for making the selfless sacrifice of giving her life so that her fellow countrymen could be free.
Although we are saddened by her passing, we also want to celebrate the life she lived.
“We all enjoyed the benefits that her husband agitated and fought for, which even though she lived her life under extremely difficult conditions, she endured,” said CS Kuria.
“Mukami may have passed away, but the question that remains is, did those people who sacrificed the most for this country to be where we are, did they reap the benefits? The government will provide financial assistance to the family.”
