Mt Kenya, Rift Valley Residents Struggling to Make Ends Meet – Infotrak
A recent Infotrak survey, published on January 22, indicates that a significant portion of the population in Mt Kenya and the Rift Valley is facing challenges in meeting their financial needs.
The pollster’s published survey revealed that more than 70 percent of the inhabitants in both regions were facing challenges or experiencing significant financial hardship.
The Coast and North Eastern regions are among the areas where more than 70 percent of the population is experiencing severe poverty.
In the Rift Valley, the homeland of President William Ruto, 73 percent of the population urgently required economic assistance.

In Mt Kenya, encompassing the former Central Province and Upper Eastern regions, 74% of the residents needed urgent financial support.
The regions in financial crisis are the North Eastern region at 78 percent and the Coast region at 76 percent.
“A majority of Kenyans (73 percent) are either in severe financial distress or struggling to make ends meet,” the survey indicated further.
Out of the entire population of the country, 22 percent of Kenyan individuals indicated that they were neither facing difficulties nor feeling at ease.
Merely 5% of the country’s inhabitants can maintain a comfortable lifestyle in the face of increasing living expenses.
According to Infotrak, Kenyans surveyed expressed that engaging in a secondary source of income and cutting down on unnecessary expenses were the primary strategies employed to manage economic challenges.
