MPs were stranded in Rwanda hotels over lack of money, Salasya claims
Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has come out to express frustration over the lack of support by the government to Members of Parliament during the East African Community (EAC) Parliamentary games in Kigali, Rwanda.
In a video on his Facebook page, Salasya said the MPs have not received any funding during their stay in Rwanda.
“We have played and represented Kenya well. I love Kenya but what is amusing is you come to play but no one has funded us. We are almost stuck here. Even the MPs are being subjected to shame,” he said.
The legislator said that it is time the country has a national conversation on the way forward.
“Sahizi tuko hapa Rwanda, polisi wangenishika mimi hapa, hapana,” he said.
(At the moment we are in Rwanda and I could be arrested here, no!)

MP Salasya urged the President to look into the welfare of the legislators who are in Rwanda.
The EAC Parliamentary Games began on December 4 and has run for 12 days.
The MPs arrived in Kenya on Sunday after the tournaments.
The Kenyan contingent in Kigali, Rwanda was on Wednesday jubilant after the men’s and women’s volleyball teams and men’s basketball side won their respective matches.
Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan, Burundi, Tanzania and the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) are the other teams who were in the 13th edition of the games.
Kenya men’s volleyball team maintained their winning streak in the tournament with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, and 25-20) victory over Rwanda at Ecole Notre Dame Gymnasium to edge closer to the title.
