MP Peter Salasya: Satan Is Influencing My Behavior

Peter Salasya, the representative for Mumias East in the Parliament, now ascribes his questionable conduct to the influence of Satan.

As per the newly elected legislator, he is perplexed by the sudden change in himself.

The Member of Parliament, who secured victory in the 2022 general elections under the Democratic Action Party – Kenya (DAP-K) banner, has engaged in physical altercations with individuals who encounter him.

On Sunday, January 14, 2024, Mr. Salasya expressed regret on his X account (previously known as Twitter), apologizing to both his constituents and the entire nation. He pledged to manage his emotions better, specifically addressing his commitment to controlling his anger.

He acknowledged that his recent behavior hasn’t exemplified the standards of a societal role model, particularly concerning the youth he represents.

“I, Peter Salasya, wish to express a sincere apology to the people of Mumias East and all Kenyans at large. My actions in the recent past have not been that of a role model or an example to young men and women. Going forward, I promise to control my anger and reaction. Ni shetani aki (It is the work of Satan),” the MP wrote.

During a recent occurrence, Mr. Salasya engaged in a dispute with a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) during a funeral ceremony in Kakamega County.

Peter Walunya Indimuli, the ward representative, extended a welcome to Salasya as he took the stage during the funeral of Dr. Harrison Kodia’s wife. He urged the MP to be considerate of the family’s sorrow in his address.

Nevertheless, Salasya allegedly replied with arrogance, causing disturbance among those in mourning.

The scenario rapidly intensified, reaching its peak as Salasya reportedly engaged in physical aggression towards Indimuli, using punches and slaps.

Witnesses reported hearing four gunshots, presumably fired by the MP’s security detail.

Fortunately, members of the public intervened, pulling Indimuli to safety within the family compound.

The legislator was later arrested and released on police cash bail pending arraignment.

In November 2023, Salasya engaged in a fight with a group of alleged goons at an event attended by Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa.

The physical fight erupted when he tried to criticize the County Governor over the revival of Mumias Sugar Company.

In May 2023, chaos erupted at a funeral ceremony he (Salasya) had attended in Kakamega County.
