MP Beatrice Elachi Defends President Ruto, Tells Critics to Respect or Leave Kenya if Unhappy

Allies of President William Ruto have continued to display a dismissive attitude toward Kenyans who criticize the government.

These leaders have intensified their efforts to push back against social media users who have expressed dissatisfaction with Ruto’s leadership.

During a church service yesterday, Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi strongly condemned those who have been openly disrespectful to the President, including instances of criticism voiced in churches. She emphasized the importance of showing respect for the Head of State, describing him as the nationโ€™s โ€œfather.โ€

โ€œWe must respect the President; he represents us all. When we travel abroad, people question what kind of country we come from based on how we treat our leaders,โ€ Elachi remarked.

The legislator did not hold back in her rebuke of the critics, even suggesting that those unhappy with Kenya should consider leaving the country. She questioned why individuals would choose to remain in a place they claim to dislike.

โ€œForeigners come here and admire Kenya, but Kenyans complain without taking action. If you think Kenya is such a bad place, why not leave? Whatโ€™s the point of staying in a country you consider terrible? If you canโ€™t leave, accept that this is your home and take pride in it,โ€ she urged.

Elachi also drew comparisons to neighboring Tanzania, claiming that Kenyans are seen as disrespectful to their leaders, unlike Tanzanians. She warned critics against ruining the country with their negative attitudes. โ€œWhere will you go if you ruin Kenya? Let us show respect to the President,โ€ she added.

Her statements align with a broader push to promote respect for the President amidst growing dissatisfaction. Much of this criticism has come from social media users unhappy with the leadership of Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza administration.
