Moi’s Grandson Appeals for Ksh2.5 Million Aid Ahead of Surgery

The grandson of ex-President Daniel Arap Moi is requesting assistance from Kenyans to raise Ksh2.5 million, which is necessary for his medical surgery.

The appeal filed by Faith Milkah Moi, the widow of the late Jonathan Toroitich Moi, stated that her son was diagnosed with a cyst on his left upper jaw two years ago, requiring surgery.

Nevertheless, as per the mother’s account, the family has faced challenges in securing funds for the surgery scheduled for January 4 of this year.

“The surgery was scheduled for 4th January 2024 but due to financial constraints, it was rescheduled to enable the family to raise the funds,” Mrs. Moi stated on Monday through her lawyer Wahome Thuku after a court session where she is contesting division of the family’s estate.

Faith Moi took legal action, expressing her dissatisfaction with the distribution of the family’s assets, claiming that it has left her incapable of covering her son’s medical expenses for surgery.

According to a statement from Thuku, Faith, with the assistance of her lawyer, disclosed that she had opted to establish a Paybill account as a means to generate the necessary funds.

“The cost of his medical bill is Ksh 2.5 million. We kindly request for your prayers, emotional support and financial contribution towards this funds drive,” Faith requested.

Additionally, Mrs. Moi has pointed out, with the assistance of her attorney, that the individual responsible for executing the will has not revealed the complete financial assets of the former president. These assets are currently in the process of being distributed among his family members as specified in the will.

“She has refused to disclose even a penny that the former Head of State owned, with the blessings of some of the children,” stated Faith’s Lawyer.

The lawyer disclosed that the court case had been ongoing for a year, and the mandated attorney responsible for handling the case failed to disburse the funds for the surgery, which is now set for February 16.

Mrs. Moi, a renowned Safari Rally driver, is currently seeking court intervention to compel the lawyer to release the funds required for the surgery.

Jonathan Moi, whom Mrs. Moi asserts to be the child’s father, passed away in 2019 due to cancer.
