Miguna Miguna Applies for DPP Vacancy: Lawyer Eyes Top Prosecution Role
Monday, July 10th, attorney Miguna Miguna announced via Twitter that he has applied for the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) position that will become vacant in June 2023.
The outspoken attorney indicated in a statement that he is seeking to replace Noordin Haji, who was appointed Director General of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) last month.
The attorney who was at the center of a protracted deportation scandal during Uhuru’s previous term did not include the date he submitted his application in his post.
“For the avoidance of any doubt, yes, I have applied for the position of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP),” he declared.
Miguna, a politician notorious for his abrasiveness, promised that he would carry out his duties impartially and pursue criminal suspects.
According to the 2010 Constitution of Kenya, the DPP is responsible for directing the Inspector-General of the National Police Service (NPS) to investigate any allegations of criminal conduct.
The office of the DPP also investigates and prosecutes criminal cases and all other related incidents.
