MCA Paul Leshimpiro Shot Dead Along Highway in Samburu
The family of Paul Leshimpriro, a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) from Angata Nanyekie, is grieving his loss following his shooting on Sunday morning.
Thomas Ototo, the police chief of Samburu County, stated to the media that the politician was murdered by bandits while traveling back home on the Morijo-Baragoi Road within Samburu.
On Sunday morning, his car was attacked while he was on his way back from Maralal Town.
Leshimpriro was traveling in his vehicle accompanied by his chauffeur when the shooting incident took place at Soit Pus. Fortunately, the driver managed to emerge from the ordeal unscathed.
The event occurred just a fortnight after bandits engaged in a gun battle with police reservists in Samburu, resulting in one fatality.
On January 30, it was reported that the bandits forcefully entered the funeral service of a National Police Reservist who had lost his life in a prior shooting incident.

The alleged criminals entered the location of the funeral and commenced shooting, instilling terror and chaos among those in attendance.
During the altercation, an individual tragically lost their life, leading to the suspension of the event.
In his remarks after the assault, Richard Lesiyampe, a former Agriculture Principal Secretary, called on the government to provide insurance coverage for the National Police Reservists’ safety.
“From today I am starting a movement. For all who have lost their lives and the government has failed to save them, I will look for lawyers and take their cases to court,” he stated
During a similar period, thieves targeted the residence of the former Agriculture Principal Secretary Richard Lesiyampe, where many locals entrusted their livestock, believing it to be a more secure location.
The government had been leading the effort to combat bandits in the Rift Valley regions, including Elegeyo Marakwet, Samburu, Turkana, and Baringo, among others.
