Maverick Aoko’s Aide Narrates Last Moments Before She Went Missing
Fresh insights shed light on what may have contributed to the disappearance of prominent social media commentator Maverick Aoko.
On Monday, October 28, an electrifying update on Aoko’s social media took Kenyans by surprise as her aide used her account to report she was still missing and outline her last known activities before her disappearance.
The outspoken commentator, recognized for her dynamic posts on X (formerly Twitter), was charged in August 2024 at the Milimani Court for allegedly spreading false information via her platform. She was released on Ksh100,000 bail.
Her aide indicated that since her legal issues began, Aoko had chosen to stay under the radar in the countryside, making limited trips to Nairobi solely for court appearances.
The aide went on to share that concerns started about two weeks back when Aoko returned home to discover her door hinges tampered with, and her caretaker noticed suspicious men lurking around the neighborhood.
“She called me in a panic. I told her to take pictures and leave. She opted not to report it to avoid drawing attention to her presence,” Aoko’s aide recounted in a social media update.

“Days later, she was interviewed by AFP regarding her arrest and the ongoing threats. After posting about Mr. ‘F,’ she disappeared from the public eye, which her family and friends initially thought was a precautionary measure to keep adversaries at bay.”
According to her aide, Aoko remains untraceable, and her whereabouts have been unknown for five days.
Aoko’s vanishing act is gathering significant attention, with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) on Sunday urging her prompt return.
Prominent figures, including Embakasi East MP Babu Owino—a close friend of Aoko—have joined the calls for her release.
“Aoko has been missing for days, and no one has a clue where she is. I have reached out to her family and close friends, but no one knows,” stated Babu Owino.
One major point of concern is the silence from government security agencies on whether Aoko is in custody or detained, leading some of her most dedicated supporters to suspect foul play, given that she rarely steps away from her influential social media presence.
