Mathare Youth Stone Firefighters While on Duty
On Monday, August 21, a portion of the Nairobi Fire Brigade responders encountered a hostile situation when they were confronted by enraged Mathare residents.
As the responders attempted to reach the inundated Village 3B, the youth pelted them with stones.
According to a member of the Nairobi County Fire Brigade, the fire continues to destroy structures. The official verified that the agency was forced to retreat to the unit as a result of the disruption caused by the hostile crowd.
It was unclear why the angry youth targeted the firefighters, who were presumably there to help them contain the raging blaze.
“No one knows why they began to beat them. “They were simply on their way to extinguish the fire when the youth began throwing rocks at the trucks,” he noted.
In addition, he stated that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The official of the fire department stated, “Our officers were compelled to return to the station.” Unfortunately, one of the windows has been shattered since the arrival of the fire engines.
In addition, he reported that one of the officers who was struck by a stone is in stable condition and that the remainder of the team did not sustain any serious injuries.
The fire broke out a few minutes after five o’clock with no reported casualties. The Kenya Red Cross Team is presently at the scene of the disaster.
The duty officer of the Nairobi County fire department was compelled to stay behind despite the youth pelting his team with stones.
This occurred because a few water horses had been removed from the vehicle in an attempt to contain the fire.
With the assistance of other first responders, the officer attempted to contain the furious youth and secure the equipment.
