Man Who Killed Ex-Wife for Refusing to Return Gifts After Break-up Sentenced
A man convicted of murdering his ex-wife has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by the Kibera High Court.
The prosecution team, led by counsel Peris Maina, successfully proved beyond reasonable doubt that the convict murdered his 24-year-old ex-wife in 2018, leading to the harsh sentence.
Judge Diana Mochache, delivering the verdict, highlighted the convict’s lack of remorse and consistent denial of the crime despite clear evidence against him.
The convictโs claim that the deceased had stabbed herself was dismissed as invalid by the court.
During the trial, five witnesses presented evidence, with eyewitnesses vividly recounting the events that led to the crime.

The confrontation escalated when the victim hesitated, prompting the convict to grab a kitchen knife and fatally stab her.
After committing the crime, the convict fled but was swiftly apprehended by a crowd responding to the victimโs cries for help.
The prosecution further established a history of documented disputes between the convict and his ex-wife, underscoring the toxic relationship.
The victimโs family, speaking during the hearings, expressed profound grief, describing her as a respectful, promising young woman whose loss was devastating.
