Man United Boss Urged to Adopt Maresca’s Strategy After Defeat to Nottingham Forest
Manchester United suffered a 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, following a frustrating 2-0 loss to Arsenal just days earlier.
Several Manchester United players, including goalkeeper Andre Onana and Bruno Fernandes, made costly mistakes that directly led to goals.
Gary Neville has raised concerns about some of Ruben Amorim’s decisions and has offered advice for improvement.
Against Forest, Manchester United conceded a goal within the first two minutes when Nikola Milenkovic outjumped Lisandro Martinez to head in a corner.
In the 18th minute, Rasmus Hojlund equalized with a brilliant move from the hosts. The Red Devils aimed to secure a victory in the second half but were unable to do so.
Morgan Gibbs-White put Forest ahead with a goal following errors from Bruno Fernandes and Onana, who was easily beaten.
Chris Wood added a third goal for Forest, and many felt Martinez should have cleared the ball. Fernandes scored a second goal for the hosts but couldn’t find an equalizer or winner in the second half.

This loss leaves Manchester United in 13th place in the Premier League with 19 points from 15 games.
Neville critiques Amorim’s decisions.
Neville expressed dissatisfaction with Amorim’s lineup changes against Forest, as he made four alterations to the starting team that faced Arsenal.
Defenders Leny Yoro and Matthijs De Ligt were substituted for Harry Maguire and Noussair Mazraoui. Neville believes such frequent changes disrupt the team.
“Constantly changing players sends a message that you’re just juggling plates, and there’s no room for consistency or familiarity to develop,” he said in an interview with Metro Sports.
“By frequently changing players, especially the back three, you’re signaling that you don’t trust them.”
Neville recommended that the Portuguese coach follow the strategy of Maresca. The Chelsea manager typically plays a different starting lineup for league matches and midweek European games.
“Maresca is doing it now at Chelsea, he’s playing one eleven on a Saturday or Sunday and a different one midweek,” he added.
