Malala Calls For ANC And FORD Kenya To Dissolve, Join UDA

Secretary General of the UDA Cleophas Malala urged the Luyha community in Western Kenya to join the UDA.

Sunday in Kakamega, Malala stated that a few individuals were benefiting at the expense of the entire community.

Malala asserted that residents have been deceived for decades by the formation of local organizations incapable of propelling the community to the State House.

“This time round we must prioritize our community. We must be strategic. The only way Luhyas will get to the top is by joining a national party. I want to urge the Luhya community to join the national party UDA,” he said.

“We have parties in the Kenya Kwanza coalition that cannot produce the President. We shall be lying to one another that parties like ANC or Ford Kenya can produce the Kenyan president.”

Malala has been touring counties to recruit new UDA party members.

He visited opposition strongholds in Kisumu, Machakos, and Kisii as part of the party’s recruitment efforts.

On 11 June, during a comparable event in Narok, he stated that the party aims to recruit 15 million members across the country.

Wycliffe Wangamati, former governor of Bungoma, is the most recent politician to abandon Azimio for UDA.

Wangamati served as governor of Bungoma from 2017 to 2022.
In 2022, he ran for the same position on former CS Eugene Wamalwa’s DAP-K party, but Kenneth Lusaka of Ford Kenya defeated him.

Malala told the UDA party delegates on Sunday at his residence in Makunga, Kakamega, that the party’s influence in the Western region has received a significant boost since Wangamati joined.
