Love Rejected: Man Allegedly Stabs 17-Year-Old Teen Over Marriage Refusal
A man from Kandara, Murang’a County faced allegations of stabbing and causing severe injuries to a 17-year-old girl after she declined his marriage proposal.
Speaking to the media on Monday, May 13, the girl recounted that the incident occurred about a week ago during a conversation with the suspect, who was reportedly romantically involved with her.
According to the victim’s account, the man exerted pressure on her to marry him, and upon her refusal, he resorted to attacking and stabbing her on various parts of her body, including her head, legs, and hands.
As a result of the assault, she sustained serious injuries that now hinder her ability to sit and carry out her daily activities comfortably.
The girl’s mother disclosed that they became aware of the distressing incident through phone calls from members of the suspect’s family.
She recounted telling them, “Since it’s your son who has committed the act, why don’t you take her to the hospital?” while speaking to reporters.
Contrastingly, the father expressed dismay over the lack of action taken against the suspect, who remains at large while their daughter continues to suffer from her injuries.
The family’s frustration mounts due to the delay in apprehending the suspect, casting doubt on whether their daughter, who completed primary education last year and is set to join high school, will receive justice.

Relatives and neighbors urged law enforcement authorities to ensure that justice is served in this case, emphasizing the importance of setting a precedent to deter others from committing similar atrocious acts.
This incident follows closely after another shocking event where a 17-year-old girl was reportedly raped and subjected to an acid attack in Kenol Town, also located in Murang’a County.
Allegedly, the girl had attended a birthday celebration when a man approached her, proposing they leave together for another entertainment venue.
Though she agreed to accompany him, the minor’s body was later discovered abandoned in Kabati, within the Central Kenya county, and was transported to a hospital by bystanders.
She was subsequently admitted to a private hospital in Thika for medical treatment.
Authorities eventually arrested the suspected perpetrator, along with other individuals implicated in the crime, although they were later released.
