Lawyer Miguna Miguna Shares Recovery Journey and Critiques Tax Policies
Outspoken lawyer Miguna Miguna has detailed his recovery process following a minor leg injury.
On Friday evening, the vocal attorney sparked chatter by sharing a photo of himself with a leg cast boot and crutches.
Despite the evident injury, Miguna smiled and flashed a thumbs-up to the camera.
“Recovering from a fractured left foot. Thanks to my orthopedic surgeon, friends, and compatriots,” he captioned the photo.
Curiosity arose regarding the circumstances of Miguna’s injury.
He disclosed that he was in an accident resulting in a triple fracture of his tibia.
Acknowledging well-wishes for his swift recovery, Miguna explained the necessity of both the leg cast and boot.
“Thanks to everyone for the recovery wishes. I can’t list everyone individually. For those wondering about the incident: I had an accident and triple-fractured my tibia,” he clarified.
“The cast aids healing. However, one can’t fly with a cast due to cabin pressure fluctuations, hence the need for the boot.”
Miguna’s rationale for employing both the cast and boot possibly stemmed from criticism from Dr. Francis, a European surgeon, who questioned their simultaneous use.
“I’m uncertain about your orthopedic approach, Sir. It’s either a cast or a boot. Having both concurrently seems implausible unless it’s a fabrication!” Dr. Francis commented.

Miguna promptly defended his choice, stating, “I wore the boot before the cast. Also, I’ll require the boot for flying later. Flying with a cast isn’t feasible. Think!”
The controversial lawyer, currently in Kenya, persistently criticizes the William Ruto administration, particularly denouncing the stringent tax propositions in the Finance Bill 2024.
In a statement released via X on Wednesday, May 15, Miguna argued that Kenyans endure excessive taxation and exploitation by the government.
He alleged that taxes collected are embezzled and misused by certain officials and politicians.
“This is an irresponsible proposal, President William Ruto. Kenyans are overtaxed, oppressed, exploited, and mistreated. The taxes they pay are pilfered, misappropriated, diverted, and squandered by a select few politicians,” Miguna asserted.
He emphasized that increasing Kenya’s tax rate to 22 percent is unjustified when citizens do not reap commensurate benefits.
Miguna urged President Ruto to show regard for Kenyan citizens and abandon the tax hike initiative.
“President William Ruto, please demonstrate respect for the suffering Kenyan populace who entrusted you with the presidency. Cease exacerbating our plight,” Miguna urged.
