Kindiki Blasts Hired Goons as Chaos Erupts at Gachagua’s Party Launch in Lavington Shootout Drama
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has strongly spoken out against the violence that broke out during the official launch of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachaguaโs new political party. He urged leaders and their supporters to embrace peaceful and respectful politics.
Kindiki criticized those who use force and intimidation to settle political disagreements. His remarks came shortly after a group of alleged thugs tried to disrupt Gachaguaโs event in Lavington, Nairobi, on Thursday, May 15.
In his statement, Kindiki warned that violence, hate speech, and divisive politics are dangerous and can reverse Kenyaโs democratic gains. He called for mutual respect, even when people have different political views.
โOur country must uphold democracy and focus on real issues affecting Kenyans,โ he said. โThereโs no room for violence, insults, or toxic politics. These only harm our society.โ

He added that Kenyaโs future depends on building a nation rooted in peace and respect. โWe owe it to our children and grandchildren to create a country where people can disagree without fighting.โ
The chaos happened just as Gachagua was wrapping up the launch of his new party โ Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP). Trouble started when suspected disruptors attempted to interfere as Gachagua and DCP officials were exiting the venue.
Videos shared by Gossipa2z showed police officers stepping in quickly. Shots were fired in the air to scatter the crowd and restore calm. Gachaguaโs team had to pause briefly while security handled the situation, but the tension eased soon afterward.
Despite the incident, Gachagua went on to unveil the DCP party headquarters and presented the partyโs symbols โ a neon green and white logo with the words โSkiza Wakenyaโ, featuring a hand cupping an ear to symbolize listening to the people.
He also announced key party officials. Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala was named Deputy Party Leader, while former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi was appointed National Organising Secretary.
Speaking at the launch, Gachagua said, โWe believe every Kenyan deserves to be heard. Listening should be meaningful, not just for show.โ
