Kidero’s Bouncer: Autopsy Sheds Light on Evans Okoda’s Final Moments

A post-mortem examination has determined that a bouncer who worked for former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero died from severe brain injury and excessive bleeding.

Evans Okoda, aged 35, was killed close to his rented home in Oyugis town after spending time with friends at a local bar on the night of May 2. He had several fingers on his right hand severed, and his tongue was also cut out. His face was mutilated.

A post-mortem at Rachuonyo South Sub-county Hospital mortuary confirmed the severe damage to his brain.

Doctor Tobias Ocholla, who conducted the autopsy, noted in his report that the deceased had deep facial wounds inflicted with a sharp object.

Okoda was well-known at political events, particularly during the 2022 gubernatorial campaigns, where he provided security for Dr. Kidero.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Rachuonyo South police commander Lilies Wachira reported that investigations indicated the deceased left his home for activities in Oyugis town on the morning of Thursday. He was last seen at a local bar.

Neighbors were surprised to find his body outside his home on the morning of May 3.

It is suspected he may have been killed during a heavy rainstorm.

“Despite the heavy rain overnight, no one reported any disturbance during the attack,” Ms. Wachira stated. She mentioned that an investigation into Okoda’s death is underway.

“The motive behind the murder and the identities of Okoda’s killers remain unknown,” Ms. Wachira said.

His body was taken to the mortuary at Rachuonyo South Sub-county Hospital in Oyugis town.

Okoda’s death led to protests in Oyugis town on the morning of May 3.

Dr. Kidero urged authorities to investigate the case thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“Okoda was a member of my security team during the 2022 General Elections campaign, and his violent death casts a shadow,” he said.
