Kenyans Granted Visa-Free Access to Senegal!

According to the announcement made by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, Kenyan citizens will not be required to seek a visa to enter or transit through Senegal.

A bilateral meeting between President William Ruto and the leader of the West African state, Macky Sall, took place on Sunday, and it was during this meeting that the decision was made.

Following Kenya’s earlier decision to lift visa restrictions to holders of Senegalese passports, Senegal has now reciprocated by providing free visa entry to holders of Kenyan passports, Kenya’s foreign minister said in a tweet on Monday.

“Yesterday, during the bilateral meeting between President Dr. @WilliamsRuto and Senegal President H.E. @Macky_Sall it was announced that following Kenya’s earlier decision to lift visa restrictions to holders of Senegalese passports,”

He lauded the decision as a great step towards increasing regional integration and the free movement of Africans inside the continent, and he called for other African nations to follow suit.

“This will grow trade between our two countries and open up opportunities for tourism and education for citizens of both Nations,” said Mutua, adding that this will benefit both nations.

The Bahamas, Barbados, Botswana, Cuba, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe are among the nations that now allow Kenyan citizens to travel there without first obtaining a visa. Senegal is the latest nation to join this list.
