The relatives of Samuel Muturi Wanjiru, a member of the US Marine Corps, are deeply distressed as he has disappeared following a holiday with his girlfriend in Puerto Rico.

During an interview with KDTV on April 14th, Muturi’s mother disclosed that her son has been absent since March 27, and all attempts to find him have been unsuccessful.

As per the mother’s account, her son departed from home with his girlfriend for a brief getaway to Puerto Rico to mark his birthday. He reached their destination without incident and promptly contacted her, sharing the specifics of their accommodation.

The mother of two expressed worry about her son’s safety, but Muturi reassured her that Puerto Rico was indeed a secure destination.

The following day, it’s reported that the couple went for a swim in the sea. However, Muturi’s girlfriend didn’t remain in the water for long, explaining that she felt fatigued and preferred to rest instead.

Muturi continued swimming, but shortly afterward, there were reports that a powerful wave knocked the soldier over.

This marked the final sighting of Muturi. His mother was taken aback by the news, as her son was last seen swimming along the ocean’s shoreline.

“I was at work when I got the call that my son was in the water and he was swept away by a current. I am hoping that he may be stranded somewhere since he knew how to swim but as days go by the hope is slowly fading,” she stated.

“They were at the safest side of the beach which did not even require a lifeguard,” she added.

She wondered how he vanished without leaving any clues. Muturi’s mother clarified that despite the family’s search efforts, he still hadn’t been located.

The troubled mother expressed her frustration, stating that she hadn’t received any assistance from the US military. She emphasized that they were counting on the military to locate Muturi.

She depicted her son as a courageous and valiant individual, hailed as one of the top marines by his commanders. She’s reaching out to kind-hearted individuals for both financial assistance and prayers.

“I can’t say the US government has done anything to help us find my son,” she remarked.
