    Kenya to Fly Flag Half Mast Following Death of Namibian President Hage Geingob

    Kenya to Fly Flag Half Mast Following Death of Namibian President Hage Geingob

    On Sunday, February 4, President William Ruto declared that Kenya would lower its flags to half-mast in honor of the late Namibian President Hage Geingob.

    Addressing the audience in Kakamega County, Ruto disclosed that government officials were strategizing the commencement dates for Kenya’s mourning period.

    Before the announcement, Ruto had guided the nation in a moment of silence as a tribute to the departed Geingob.

    The President of Namibia passed away on February 4, while undergoing medical care at Pohamba Hospital in the capital city of Windhoek.

    As per information received from the Namibian Presidency, Geingob passed away in the company of his spouse and children.

    Reports indicated that the late President had succumbed to cancer. 

    In a statement following news of his demise, Ruto remembered him as a distinguished leader who served the people of Namibia with focus and dedication.ย

    โ€œHe was a believer of a unified Africa and strongly promoted the continentโ€™s voice and visibility in the global arena,โ€ Ruto eulogized. 

    In his condolence message, Ruto wished the people of Namibia for Godโ€™s strength and courage during this difficult period.

    Hage Geingob was also mourned by Azimio leader Raila Odinga who remarked that Africa had lost a true pan-Africanist.

    โ€œHis legacy as a beacon of the liberation struggle and architect of Namibia’s constitution will forever echo in the hearts of his people and across Africa,โ€ the former Prime Minister remembered Geingob. 

    Former President Uhuru Kenyatta also remembered Geingob great leader who contributed immensely to the liberation of Namibia.

    โ€œOur thoughts and prayers are with his family, the Government, and the people of Namibia during this difficult time of grieving and loss,โ€ Uhuru remarked.ย
