Those traveling back to Nairobi from Nanyuki will access the train at the Nanyuki Station on Wednesday and Sunday at 9 am.
First-class tickets for the route cost Ksh1,000, while economy class costs Ksh200.
Kenya Railways explained that the trains were introduced owing to the expected increased travel as Kenyans will be heading home for the Christmas and New Year festivities.
However, the transport corporation did not detail when the midweek services will end.
Occasionally, Kenyans prefer trains because they are more economically friendly as compared to buses which charge twice as high during the festivities.
However, the trains take much longer time than the buses and planes.Â
