Kenya Forest Ranger Faints in Front of Ruto
A Kenya Forest Ranger (KFS) passed out during Wednesday’s graduation ceremony at the Forest Law Enforcement Academy on the parade grounds of NYS Gilgil.
The cause of the ranger’s fainting in front of President William Ruto, who presided over the parade, was not immediately apparent.
The injured officer was promptly placed on a stretcher and removed from the parade to receive medical attention.
According to sources who spoke with Kenyans.co.ke, the ranger may have collapsed due to the length of time they were required to stand while waiting to take their oath of service.
“The officers had been there since morning and it got overwhelming. He was quickly attended to,” a source noted.
The government did not immediately clarify whether the collapsed officer had a preexisting condition that could have contributed to the collapse.
The ranger graduated with 2,664 other recruits from the Forest Law Enforcement Academy.

The cohort has now joined the service and is expected to preserve, conserve, and sustainably manage the country’s forests and forest resources.
This is the result of a rigorous six-month paramilitary training program in preparation for the noble duty of forest protection.
During the pass-out parade, President William Ruto assured the rangers and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers that he would review their terms of service.
During the occasion, Ruto ordered the dismissal of 23 Kenya Forest Service (KFS) employees due to allegations of corruption.
He stated that thousands of acres of the nation’s forest cover had been devastated due to their corrupt dealings.
Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Environment Soipan Tuya and Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika accompanied the President.
Others present included the Principal Secretaries of the Ministry, the Chairman of the KFS Board, Job Chirchir, and the Chief Conservator of Forests, Alex Lemarkoko.
