Karua Urges Suspension of Finance Bill, Unveiling New Opposition to Government’s Financial Agenda
Martha Karua, the leader of the Narc-Kenya party, has once again stated that the controversial Finance Bill 2023 is flawed and should be suspended.
Speaking at Maina village on the outskirts of Nyahururu, Laikipia County on Saturday during the funeral service of prominent politician and former Nyahururu Deputy Mayor Jonnah Gicheru, Karua urged Kenyans to speak out when oppressed, stating that the proposed bill recommendations made by the Kenya Kwanza administration are oppressive.
According to Karua. The Bill is discriminatory because it targets the common mwananchi and not the wealthy members of society, despite the numerous obstacles they face.

“If someone is making your life difficult and you remain silent, he will never realize that he is oppressing you. This Finance Bill is bad because it will allow wealthy people with helicopters to avoid paying taxes on planes and their spare parts, while the average mwananchi earning approximately Ksh 1,400 per day will be required to pay taxes.
“The Bill must be open and fair to everyone. No government can function without taxes, but we must point out the bill’s flaws. There will be additional sessions to educate Kenyans on the Bill, but for the time being, let the experts point out its flaws.”
Leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza government. Such as Ndaragwa MP George Gachagua and Laikipia Senator John Kinyua. Who were also in attendance, reaffirmed their support for the Bill. Which they noted would assist in reviving the country’s economy once President William Ruto’s administration’s plans are implemented.
