Kanini Kega Faction Outlines Strategic Plan Following Key Meeting with Gachagua

After meeting with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday, May 27th, the faction of the Jubilee Party led by East African Legislative Assembly (ELA) Member of Parliament (MP) Kanini Kega declared that it was prepared to restore order to the beleaguered Jubilee Party.

Former Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu hinted in a statement. That a referendum will soon be held to determine which faction will control the party. Between the faction led by Kega, which supports President William Ruto’s regime, and the faction led by Jeremiah Kioni.

Wambugu disclosed that there are two factions within the Jubilee Party. Jubilee Azimio, which he claimed was stuck in the past. And Jubilee Kenya, which supported Ruto’s presidency.

“The Jubilee Party comprises two factions. Jubilee Azimio is unable to escape the past. It insists that we won the most recent elections and refuses to acknowledge that elections have concluded and a new government is now legally in office. This faction desires that our party do everything possible to ensure the failure of this government, regardless of the cost to our nation.

“Jubilee Kenya has an eye toward the future. It recognizes that we lost the election and that a new government is now legally in power. This second faction will do everything possible to ensure the prosperity of the nation, including collaborating with the Kenya Kwanza Administration to relocate Kenya where necessary, Wambugu stated.

This occurred after eleven former members of the twelfth Parliament from the Mt Kenya region met with Gachagua at the official vice president’s residence in Karen.

Wambugu asserted emphatically, “In the coming days, we will conduct an internal vote to determine which faction should lead the party.”
Former Kieni MP Kanini Kega, former Kiambu town MP Jude Njomo, and former Othaya MP James Gichuki were present at the meeting.

However, DP Gachagua praised them for continuing to support the Kenya Kwanza administration despite losing their parliamentary seats.

“They have taken a distance from Azimio la Umoja.” One demonstration and efforts to resurrect criminal gangs to cause violence and disorder in society.

“On my part, I have reassured them of the President’s commitment to unite the country and embrace all leaders, including those who did not support us,” said Gachagua.

Wambugu criticized former President Uhuru Kenyatta on May 23 for misleading Jubilee loyalists and failing to demonstrate leadership.

Wambugu argued in a video-recorded analysis. That Jubilee’s so-called National Delegates Conference should not be referred to as NDC. Because it did not achieve its intended purpose.

Jubilee Wrangles

Former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni and former Kieni MP Kanini Kega, both of whom claim to be the party’s Secretary General (SG), have engaged in a tug-of-war within the Jubilee Party.

In addition, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is the chairperson of the Jubilee party, is battling nominated MP Sabina Chege for his seat.

After a Parliamentary Group meeting in Nakuru on February 4, Kega and Jubilee Party chairman Nelson Dzuya suspended Kioni and David Murathe from their positions as SG and vice chairman, respectively.

Uhuru led a Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference (NDC) on May 22 at Ngong’ Racecourse, where he expelled ten party members, including his purported successor Sabina Chege and Kega.

“Those who received the few positions Jubilee had to share now claim they will steer the party in the right direction. “No, their job is to stand firm and defend the Jubilee manifesto, or to step down and allow us to choose replacements,” Uhuru said.
