Jomo Uhuru Challenges State’s Gun Licence Revocation
John Jomo Kenyatta, the son of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has petitioned the High Court to challenge the government’s decision to revoke his firearms license.
In an urgent application to the Milimani Law Courts, John J. Kenyatta, the son of former president Uhuru Kenyatta, asked the court to intervene and prevent the state from revoking his firearms license.
He desires to prevent the Chief Licensing Officer, the Firearms Licensing Board, and the Attorney General from requesting his license “without following the due process outlined in the Firearms Act.”
John, through his attorney Fred Ngatia, asserts in his court filings that the decision to revoke his firearms license violates subsection 5 (8) of the Firearms Act.
Despite having a license, he claims that he has not been informed of the reasons for the proposed revocation.
On July 21, according to Jomo, when officers demanded that he forfeit his firearms, no reason was given.

Jomo stated, “Upon inquiry as to the reasons, if any, for the sudden demand for my firearms, the offices feigned ignorance.”
He stated that he is concerned about the use of coercive tactics, which is why he is imploring the court to intervene.
Interior CS Kithure Kindiki announced on Friday that 23 firearms were recovered from three homes in Karen, Nairobi, as a result of an operation initiated after it was determined that weapons used during demonstrations were provided by civilian gun owners.
“This afternoon, an operation targeting three homesteads in the Karen region has been underway,” he said on Friday. “A total of 23 firearms, some of which are suspected to have been used in illegal activities, have been seized.”
Since then, the former president has come forward to defend his family against the assault, defying the state to go after him instead of his family.
Uhuru swore to protect his family at any cost.
