Jalang’o Opens Up on WhatsApp Group Removal, Collaboration with Ruto

Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwour, also known as Jalang’o, claims that his intimate working relationship with President William Ruto has rendered him an orphan or rather a stranger in the ODM Party.

According to Jalang’o, a diehard member of the Raila Odinga-led Orange Party, he is currently barred from all ODM communication platforms, including WhatsApp groups, and is unaware of party affairs.

The Lang’ata representative disclosed in an interview with NTV that he presently obtains information about the party through hearsay.

“Sasa hivi nimetolewa kwa communications zote za chama. So hata kama kuna chochote chama inataka tu support, siwezi jua. Labda upate kuskia kupitia fununu pallid bungeni… Ni wakati mgumu kwa maana upo tu kama yatima pale,” he said.

Despite his detractors’ claims that his actions amount to political suicide and will result in him being a one-term lawmaker, the Lang’ata member of parliament says he does not regret and cannot renounce his collaboration with President Ruto.

“…ilipofika kotini na wale majaji wasaba wote wakasema rais ni William Ruto na baadaye nikaanza kuona maono yake na mambo ambayo anajaribu kufanya, nikasema this is the direction I want to take, I want to work with the President na sitarudi nyuma,” said Jalang’o.

Despite his repeated assertions that he respects Raila Odinga, the leader of the ODM Party, he has not been permitted to have a personal encounter with him since they visited State House on February 7, along with several other opposition leaders.

“…Mimi ni kijana ya baba. Baba ananipenda sana. Nampenda na namheshimu. Lakini haya mambo ambayo yalitokea baada ya safari ya State House, hata kuja karibu nayeye imekuwa ngumu. Watu wanakuona kama msaliti. Hata security yangu tu, siezi songa karibu kwa sababu wengi wanaona kwamba umeharibu,” Jalang’o disclosed.

The representative maintains that he is not a traitor, adding that he will remain grateful for the opportunity to serve as a member of parliament even if he is not reelected in 2027 due to his political move.

In the meantime, Jalang’o maintains that the recent visits to State House by purported ODM rebels will not affect the Opposition leader’s political hold on the Nyanza region.

“Kujaribu na kuwa na dhana kuwa unaweza kumtoa Raila alivyo shikilia Nyanza ni ndoto yam chana. Nyanza wanaskiza watu wawili tu… Mungu na Baba (Raila),” said Jalang’o.
