Jackton Odhiambo Denies Murder of Edwin Chiloba
Jacktone Odhiambo, the prime suspect in the murder of Eldoret-based LGBTQ activist and fashion model Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo alias Chiloba, has pleaded not guilty.
Odhiambo testified before Eldoret High Court Judge Reuben Nyakundi that he murdered Chiloba between December 31st, 2022, and January 3rd, 2023 in the Chebisaas area of Moiben, Uasin Gishu county.
“I never murdered him,” Odhiambo said when the judge asked him to respond to the charges.
Odhiambo is represented by lawyer Mathai Maina, while Chiloba’s family is represented by Mitullah Gilbert.

The judge ordered that the case be heard on February 16th to consider the distribution of all documents to the parties involved.
The court ordered Odhiambo to have a mental evaluation at MTRH before entering a plea on Wednesday last week.
In the meantime, Deputy Registrar Rosemary Onkoba directed that Odhiambo be held at the Eldoret GK Prison.
Odhiambo was found to have a case to answer after investigations linked him to the brutal murder of the fashion model.
The court released four other suspects, three of whom were minors after evidence showed they had no connection to Chiloba’s death.
The three minors, on the other hand, are required to report to the DCI offices in Eldoret South once a month for three months to record additional statements.
