Ichung’wah Teases Azimio: I would have given Sh1.5m Solo

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah ridiculed Azimio MPs for their donations to protest victims last week.

Speaking in Kilifi on Friday, Ichung’wah stated that he would have contributed the same amount of money as all opposition MPs at the event.

The phrase ‘Na nimeona wamechanga pesaโ€ฆWabunge sijui milioni moja na nusu wabunge kama mia moja na kitu? He stated, “Ile ningetoa peke yangu raisi.”

Ichung’wah accused Azimio for the deaths caused by the protests, claiming that giving money in their memory was a cruel prank.

He asserted that Azimio was responsible for the deaths because he organized the demonstrations.

“Let us be honestโ€ฆWhat they are doing today is tantamount to dancing on the graves of those who lost their lives in the riots, anarchy, and violence that we witnessed in Nairobi and other parts of this country,” he said.

“Had you not encouraged innocent young men and women to participate in riots, perhaps they would not have perished.”

He concurred with Azimio leader Kalonzo Musyoka that these lives should not have been lost and demanded a resolution to the crisis.

On Friday, the donations were made during a requiem mass conducted at the SKM Centre.

In total, the executives contributed more than $4 million.

Kalonzo said, “I’d like to acknowledge with gratitude the contributions of our brothers Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, each of whom gave Sh1 million, and I’m accompanying them with half a million shillings.”

Opiyo Wandayi, the minority leader of the National Assembly, stated that lawmakers had donated 1.5 million shillings to the victims.

Former Secretary of Defense Eugene Wamalwa contributed Sh200,000 to the fund.
