I Won’t Allow Selfish Leaders to Divide Mt Kenya – Gachagua
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has cautioned leaders against creating divisions within the Mt Kenya region based on county boundaries.
Addressing a gathering at Bishop Gatimu Kinyona Girls during a fundraising event on Saturday, Gachagua expressed the view that it is self-centered for some leaders to discuss succession plans only a year after the 2022 general election.
He observed that the residents of Mt Kenya will determine the most fitting leader for their community once President William Ruto completes his terms.
“I want to assure you that I will not allow any leader to divide the community along county lines, this will not be allowed,” he said.
Gachagua expressed his readiness to collaborate with young leaders, offering guidance on political issues, and emphasizing the importance of respecting the wishes of the voters.
He observed that the Mt Kenya region will consistently vote as a unified block and endorse individuals whom they consider fit to lead them.
“When the right time comes, I will guide my people on the next course, I will not leave you in the wilderness,” he said.
The Deputy Principal expressed that the unity of the community would result in significant advantages under the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“My wish is very possible, let’s remain united and speak with one voice. I’m ready to work with everyone and I will support you,” he said.
Gachagua expressed the view that engaging in succession politics is regressive and ought to be halted.
