President William Ruto has announced his plans to return to evangelism after completing his term as Kenya’s Head of State.

During a church service at ACK Bungoma on Sunday, September 1, 2024, Ruto expressed that evangelism is his true calling.

Ruto explained that this is why he often speaks to Kenyans from the rooftops of vehicles.

He mentioned that as an evangelist, he sometimes finds himself acting like one, even when engaged in other activities.

“I am an evangelist, and many people often wonder why I stand in elevated places, sometimes even on top of the car. It’s because when your orientation is that of an evangelist, you naturally behave like one, regardless of what you’re doing. By the way, I’ve committed that after my tenure as president, I’ll return to evangelism because that’s my original calling,” Ruto stated.

The Head of State also encouraged the church to continue praying for the nation, expressing his gratitude for the blessings God has bestowed upon Kenya.

Ruto highlighted three key blessings he believes God has granted the country.

He mentioned that God has provided Kenya with favorable weather over the past two years, resulting in bountiful harvests from recent planting seasons.

Ruto also noted that God has helped the nation to begin uniting around development issues, moving away from the previous focus on ethnic divisions.

Additionally, the president credited God’s influence for the success of his recent development tour in Nyanza.

“I’ve just returned from a trip to Nyanza, and it’s truly remarkable what God can do. It’s almost miraculous that people who were once on opposite sides just a few months ago are now speaking as if we’ve been close brothers, sisters, and friends for a long time. That’s the beauty of our country—when circumstances call for it, we come together as a people, forge alliances as a nation, and work collaboratively for the greater good,” Ruto stated.

On Saturday, August 31, 2024, Ruto concluded his tour of the Nyanza region, where he continued to promote his broad-based government and praised Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for supporting his administration despite protests and opposition from some Kenyans.

During his speech in Kondele, Kisumu County on Saturday, August 31, 2024, Ruto expressed admiration for Raila’s patriotism, noting how Raila put aside his political ambitions to back the administration despite pressure from Gen-Z-led protests.

Ruto also extended an olive branch to Kondele residents who had previously protested against the Finance Act 2023, emphasizing that there is no issue with Raila supporting his administration.
