“I Went to School in Italy, You Studied Locally”: Zainab Unleashes Fury on Ichung’wah in Explosive MP Clash
On Tuesday, April 16, Migori Member of Parliament Fatuma Zainab strongly criticized her colleague from Kikuyu, Kimani Ichung’wah, regarding discrepancies in the management of House affairs.
During the parliamentary session, Zainab expressed her concern that most of the proposed changes to bills were approved quickly without undergoing a comprehensive examination.
She highlighted that in other cases, Members of Parliament would engage in arguments during the sessions and veer off-topic, resulting in disorderly proceedings.
“I’m a first-timer so I sit in this house so that I learn. If I was asked, I would say the bills are read and they said yes. What was read, I don’t know, and I’m not the only one,” she stated.
“We are being attacked on national TV when we’re told that we don’t speak in Parliament.”
However, Ichung’wah criticized her and asserted that she should have familiarized herself with the Order paper before attending Parliament.

He contended that this would provide her with sufficient content to present and discuss in the House.
“She’s telling the people of Migori that she doesn’t know what’s happening. You cannot stand in the house and announce to the people who voted for you that you are unaware,” Ichung’wah remarked.
“They voted for you because they believe you are the best. The people expect you to read, understand, contribute, and propose amendments, you have not done that.”
In her response, Zainab challenged Ichung’wah’s reasons for criticizing her, emphasizing her deep knowledge of political affairs.
“Ichung’wah on matters of education I went to school in Italy, you studied locally,” she lashed out.
“I did not say that I’m not aware of what’s happening. I said that when the bill was been read, Ichung’wah was busy shouting and we could not hear what had been said. Don’t intimidate me, you represent one constituency, I represent four; you are a minor to me.”
The intense argument prompted Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma, who was presiding over the session, to step in and restore order in the chamber, ensuring that regular proceedings could resume.
