I want Ruto’s Seat, Not CS or Attorney General Job – Eugene Wamalwa
DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa has made it clear that he has no interest in joining the Kenya Kwanza government.
He stated this includes declining roles such as Attorney General or Cabinet Secretary.
As a former Defence Cabinet Secretary under President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration, Wamalwa emphasized he would not accept any position from the current government.
“What I want, Ruto cannot offer. I am not interested in a job within Ruto’s administration, nor do I want his money,” Wamalwa declared.
He mentioned that even the AG position would be a step down for him, having served as Justice Minister after the 2010 Constitution was enacted.
“The AG’s office was part of my ministry when I was Justice Minister during the Constitution’s implementation. How can I consider it a promotion now?” he questioned.
Wamalwa highlighted his extensive ministerial experience, including heading the Devolution ministry and overseeing all 47 governors.
“At the Defence Ministry, I led the Kenyan Defence Forces, including the Army, Airforce, and Navy. I have no interest in any ministry within Ruto’s government,” he stated.
Wamalwa is eyeing the presidency.
“I aim to take the seat Ruto currently occupies. Do you think he will just hand it over? That is the only position I am interested in,” he asserted.

He expressed his intent to collaborate with protesters opposing Ruto’s administration to form their government.
“I am backing Gen-Z youth to oust Ruto and establish our government,” he reiterated.
These comments came shortly after President William Ruto appointed opposition members to his government following Gen Z protests.
Ruto selected former governors Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya, along with MPs John Mbadi and Opiyo Wandayi as Cabinet Secretaries to stabilize his administration.
Speculations abound regarding the AG position after President Ruto assigned Justin Muturi to the Public Service portfolio.
Rebecca Miano, initially nominated to replace Muturi, was reassigned to the Tourism docket, leaving the AG role vacant.
Top opposition figures, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Narc Kenya’s Martha Karua, have declined the position.
Reports suggest the president has offered the AG post to Azimio opposition leaders as part of his expanded government strategy.
Additionally, the position of East African Community and Regional Development remains unfilled as Ruto has yet to nominate anyone for the role.
