How Mobile Blunder Led to Arrest of Murder Suspects
Detectives from the Starehe office of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) apprehended two individuals on Sunday in connection with the homicide of a young man that occurred on March 7th.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) affirmed that detectives apprehended the pair in Dandora Phase IV, located within Nairobi County. The law enforcement officials stated that the two individuals were implicated in the acquisition of a mobile phone stolen from the victim.
The DCI stated that one of the two suspects was discovered to have the phone in their possession, which they had obtained from their accomplice, who had received it from the main suspect in the murder case.
“Following a brief interrogation of two key suspects in the murder most foul, detectives based at DCI Starehe have arrested two suspects in Dandora Phase IV.”
“This is after painstaking investigations led sleuths to the suspect’s business shop where the victim’s mobile phone earlier robbed by the perpetrators of the evil act was taken, and later sold out by him to the second suspect who was arrested in its possession.”
Furthermore, the officers successfully seized 95 phones that were allegedly stolen from different areas in Nairobi.

The DCI disclosed that the killing on March 7 took place as the two suspects, along with the victim, were moving in the same direction. According to reports, one of the suspects allegedly brandished a knife and thrust it into the left side of the victim’s chest.
“The man later succumbed to the injuries while at the Baba Dogo Health Centre,” explained the DCI.
Both assailants subsequently escaped the location, leaving the victim in critical condition, until their apprehension on March 17th.
During a recent enforcement action led by the DCI, 21 individuals were apprehended on March 5, and over a hundred mobile phones and laptops were seized as part of an effort to combat electronics theft in the city.
Additionally, the DCI declared its intention to persist in targeting individuals who pose as phone repair agents while engaging in the theft of mobile phones throughout the city.
On Saturday night, in another occurrence, the DCI announced the apprehension of three Nigerians and one Kenyan involved in a drug trafficking ring. The authorities intercepted the trio in Nairobi’s Central Business District before trailing them to their residence in Kasarani, where the DCI seized cannabis and another illicit substance.
