How KPA Staff Issued Tender Worth Millions to Daughter
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has taken into custody a Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) employee over allegations involving a fraudulent Ksh 6 million tender.
The official is accused of granting the tender to a company owned by her daughter, creating a severe conflict of interest.
The EACC disclosed that the accused played a significant role in evaluating the tender, which resulted in the contract being awarded to her daughter’s business.
“This morning, the Commission arrested a KPA employee on charges related to a fraudulent tender amounting to Ksh 6,436,934.40, which was awarded to a company managed by her daughter,” the EACC stated.
The arrest came after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) concurred with the Commission’s findings and agreed to proceed with prosecution.
The EACC noted that the individual will face several charges, including conflict of interest, illegal acquisition of public property, fraudulent procurement practices, and falsification of documents.

The EACC underscored that her actions breached various legal standards, especially those aimed at maintaining fairness and transparency in public procurement.
“Her involvement in evaluating and awarding the tender to her daughter’s company allegedly breached procurement laws and ethical standards governing public service,” the EACC said on their official social media channels.
After her arrest, the accused was brought to the Mombasa Anti-Corruption Court to enter a plea.
This case underscores the EACC’s ongoing commitment to combating corruption in public institutions and ensuring accountability for unethical conduct.
“The official, suspected of conducting business with KPA through her daughter’s firm, took part in the tender evaluation process that led to the award,” the EACC commented.
This arrest represents a crucial move in the EACC’s efforts to enforce anti-corruption laws and foster integrity in public service.
