The loved ones of Charles Waga Otieno are facing a profound sense of surprise and sorrow while they endeavor to uncover the mysteries surrounding the untimely demise of their family member. His lifeless body was found on the ground floor of Corner Heights Apartment on Naivasha Road, Dagoretti South.

The autopsy findings, which disclosed numerous head fractures and internal bleeding in Waga, have further intensified the enigma, leaving loved ones bewildered about the events that led to his death.

On the solemn evening of Wednesday, January 31, a gathering of close relatives and friends assembled at the morgue of Coptic Hospital, where a private pathologist examined Waga’s remains.

Waga’s friends described the startling finding of his remains, highlighting the presence of bloodstains and the fact that his trousers were missing.

Oddly, Waga’s pants, footwear, wristlet, Marvin (beanie/knit cap), and belt were discovered later in the hallway leading to the residence where he bought a carpet.

Jaffer Ochieng, a friend of the late Waga, expressed bewilderment over the situation, stating, “We also found an earring [Waga doesn’t have pierced ears], and what shocked us is that Waga had a boxer only. We want justice for Waga because he was an innocent boy.”

Erick Babu, Waga’s brother, expressed the family’s shock over the sudden death of their beloved relative, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation. “We are shocked, and we demand that an investigation is carried out to reveal what killed Charles,” said Babu.

The family is urging investigators to thoroughly examine the apartment’s caretaker, neighbors, and the security guard who was on duty during the incident. Their call for justice emphasizes their determination to uncover the details surrounding Waga’s unfortunate death.

Apart from experiencing an apparent tragedy, Waga was a budding artist recognized for his resilience in the music sector. Peers revealed that he was preparing to launch a song featuring a well-known artist in the country.

Waga, working as an attendant at Identity Cleaners car wash on Naivasha Road, started his final day just like any other. His assignment was to bring a carpet to a Nigerian customer staying in room 56 on the seventh floor of the Corner Heights Apartment. The family mentioned that Waga was supposed to be paid Sh800 for cleaning two carpets for the customer.

Efforts to gather information from the apartment’s caretaker were obstructed by security personnel who refused media entry, demanding police authorization for access and stating that the caretaker was not present.

As the inquiry progresses, the family grieves the premature passing of Charles Waga Otieno, a young man with bright ambitions within the music sector.
