Heavy Police Presence in Nairobi for Azimio Protests

In preparation for what is expected to be a continuation of the Azimio la Umoja protests against the government, a large number of police officers have been stationed in various parts of Nairobi.

A spot check conducted by Citizen Digital on Tuesday morning revealed that anti-riot police were stationed in Nairobi’s main entry and exit points, including the intersection of the Uhuru Highway and the Haile Selassie Avenue, parts of Ngara, and near the General Post Office.

Along Ngong Road, police were seen behaving in a manner analogous to how they were observed in the areas surrounding Prestige Mall and the Junction Mall.

In addition, roadblocks were set up on all of the roads that led to the State House, and police officers were stationed on roads such as Dennis Pritt.

Raila Odinga, the leader of the coalition, has not wavered in his resolve to proceed with the demonstrations, even though President William Ruto and the police have denied Azimio permission to take to the streets.
