Govt Issues Order on Embarambamba & Bishop Johanna Controversial Content
The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has mandated the removal of content created by the contentious artist Chris Embarambamba from all streaming platforms.
In a declaration, the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) condemned the dissemination of inappropriate online material featuring recorded religious content by a preacher identified as Bishop Johanna.
Controversial material from gospel artist William Getumbe has also been instructed to be taken down from streaming platforms.
“A demand letter has been issued to Embrambamba and Getumbe to remove any inappropriate content from their various platforms. Failure to comply will result in legal action by the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya,” the order read in part.
Furthermore, notifications were sent to various social media platforms instructing them to remove the two contentious songs.
KFCB expressed remorse that Johanna was associated with a faction of adults utilizing religious influence to deceive the public with inappropriate and explicit performances.

As students went on midterm break, parents were advised to make sure that their children were not exposed to inappropriate or explicit material.
“In cases where children have access to the internet and smart devices, parents/guardians must exercise responsibility to ensure that minors do not access inappropriate content,” the statement read in part.
Many young individuals venturing into the creative sector, particularly in content creation, have been cautioned to comply with the prevailing laws in Kenya.
This entails generating content that respects our cultural heritage, moral principles, and national goals, while also taking measures to prevent the exposure of minors to inappropriate material.
