Governor Fernandes Barasa Tops List of Most Impactful County Leaders in 2023, Politrack Report Reveals
Data and research firm Politrack has ranked Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa as the most impactful county boss this year.
Barasa was lauded for launching a Governors Cup tournament, a solar-powered market water project, and 4,000 kits for community health promoters.
He also empowered youths and women through a beekeeping project, improved the shelter program, and commissioned the expansion of the maternity wing in the Lugari Sub-county Hospital.
His Uasin Gishu counterpart, Jonathan Bii, and Isiolo’s Patrick Ole Ntutu tied in second place.
Meanwhile, Kisii, Homabay, Muranga, Tharaka Nithi, Nandi, Kwale, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, and Meru governors took fourth position up to the tenth, respectively.

The rankings were based on the progress of Trade, Sports, Agriculture, Water, Sanitation, Infrastructure, Health, and Education sectors in the counties.
Kakamega County was also ranked the best in terms of sports and agriculture.
Isiolo was the most impactful in terms of trade, and Kirinyanga and Muranga topped in Health and Education sectors.
Narok County was ranked the best regarding water and sanitation, and Homabay was the best in infrastructure.
The rankings come just one year since the governors took the oath of office.
One month before the release of the report, Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya, Homabay’s Gladys Wanga, and Kirinyaga’s Anne Waiguru were ranked the top three best-performing governors over the last year.
