Governor Barchok Slams Oscar Sudi Over Gachagua Assault
Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok has responded to comments made by Oscar Sudi, an ally of Deputy President William Ruto, regarding Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Barchok cautioned Sudi against publicly quarreling with the deputy president, emphasizing the importance of showing respect. He stressed the need to address disagreements with the deputy president in a dignified manner.
Additionally, Barchok urged politicians from the Rift Valley aligned with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance to build strong relationships with counterparts from Mount Kenya.
Highlighting theย significant role the Deputy President playedย in supporting Ruto’s candidacy in 2022, Barchok emphasized the importance of showing him respect.

Barchok’s remarks were prompted by comments made by Oscar Sudi directed at Gachagua, where Sudi asserted his freedom to travel across the country in support of his party leader, President Ruto.
Sudi emphasized the need for mutual respect among all contributors to the Kenya Kwanza Government and called for respect from both the President and his deputy.
Sudi’s response came after Gachagua’s comments questioning the involvement of Ruto’s allies in succession politics, particularly in planning for the 2027 elections while the currentย presidentย is still in office.
Barchok’s statements have shed light on a growing division within President William Ruto’s party, suggesting a strained relationship between Gachagua and Ruto.
Despite speculation about a political rift between him and theย President, the Deputy President has repeatedly deniedย anyย such discord.
