Government has Identified Alleged Protest Financiers, List to Be Released- Duale
The government has identified individuals suspected of financing recent protests, according to Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.
Duale indicated that investigations are nearing completion, with politicians and business figures expected to face court within the next 10 days. Security agencies are currently compiling evidence to support legal action.
“We anticipate they will appear in court within the next 10 days to two weeks. We are determined to prevent the destruction, casualties, and looting that occurred,” Duale stated during a televised interview.
He expressed confidence in the Director of Public Prosecutions’ ability to build a strong case against the suspects, some of whom are reportedly affiliated with non-governmental organizations.
“We are familiar with their identities and will not tolerate unrest in the country,” Duale emphasized.
He highlighted a concerted effort by alleged sponsors to infiltrate and vandalize critical institutions.

According to sources, individuals under police scrutiny are suspected of mobilizing and financing youth from impoverished areas to escalate protests into violence. They allegedly provided logistical support, including transportation, in urban centers.
Politicians linked to Nairobi, Rift Valley, and Mount Kenya regions are reportedly involved, according to sources.
Cleophas Malala, Secretary General of the UDA party, echoed concerns that political interests have hijacked what began as non-aligned protests.
In a statement, Malala urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to swiftly conclude their inquiries into violent incidents during the demonstrations.
“We urge these agencies to identify and prosecute those who funded the individuals who disrupted peaceful protests, causing violence and theft,” he stressed.
