Gor Mahia Beat City Stars, Posta Squeeze Win As Police Bag Maximum Points
Gor Mahia extended the lead at the top of Kenyan Premier League table by eight points after beating City Stars 1-0 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Benson Omalla’s lone goal which came on the fifth minute of the opening half was all the reigning champions needed to bag maximum points against their opponents.
With the defeat, City Stars now move down the table from second place to fifth place on 37 points – 10 adrift of the league leaders and just two points behind second-place Posta Rangers.
Omalla now takes his goals tally to 10 as he keeps an eye on the Golden Boot this season.
In the other big match of the day, Posta Rangers pulled a 1-0 win against Ulinzi Stars in Nairobi.
Ulinzi Stars looked to threaten the opponent’s defense in the early minutes of the match as they looked so composed.
Ulinzi’s Boniface Muchiri kept the team’s spirit up as he kept giving the Posta defenders a hard time.
In the 40th minute, the Posta side got a penalty kick where Dennis Oluoch sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to give the mailmen the lead.
In the second half, the match was as intense as the Ulinzi side pushed hard with raid after raid but Posta was able to contain the pressure.
The soldiers’ efforts to secure a point failed despite several attempts to get the better side of Posta Rangers.

At Police SACCO grounds, Police FC emerged victorious with a 1-0 win in a thrilling encounter against Shabana FC
The match started well with both sides looking for the opener.
The breakthrough came in the 11th minute when David Okoth latched onto Kenneth Muguna’s cross and put it past the helpless goalkeeper.
This was followed by a series of attempts from both teams but there was nothing to gain from them.
The teams came into the second half looking more organized but neither could get a goal for that.
Shabana could have gotten the equalizer in the 63rd minute but Okola’s effort from the free kick was parried over the bar.
The match saw some delays deep into the second half following protests from the away fans.
The loss leaves Shabana in 17th place on the log as Police remain third after having played 22 matches.
