National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has dismissed Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s assertion that he is unfit for office.
In a communication reported by Gossipa2z, Wetang’ula expressed that the ex-Prime Minister should ensure the accuracy of his information before making public outbursts.
“Ignoramus per excellence! Get the facts right before such outbursts! Misplaced, misdirected & unhelpful anger Mr Raila Odinga,” Wetang’ula said on X.
The comments from the National Assembly Speaker follow Raila’s statement at a rally and an ODM membership recruitment event at Nairobi’s Kamukunji Grounds. Raila expressed disappointment in Wetang’ula’s decision to challenge the Court of Appeal’s ruling on the Housing Levy.
On Sunday, Raila asserted that Wetang’ula’s move to approach the Supreme Court is questionable, citing irregularities, given that Wetang’ula, in his role as the speaker of the National Assembly, had previously presided over the approval of the Housing Levy.

“Moses Wetang’ula does not deserve to be speaker of the National Assembly,” Raila said.
According to Raila, the speaker can only move to court after consulting MPs who have employed him.
“The law emanated from Parliament and President Ruto signed it into law, now that some people have gone to court, the Speaker, all over the world has no authority to move to court,” the Opposition leader said.
Raila states that the speaker is only allowed to go to court after seeking the opinion of the Members of Parliament who have appointed him.
“The national assembly and the speaker of the national assembly being dissatisfied with the decision of the court of appeal intend to appeal to the Supreme Court against the whole ruling,” read the notice
On January 26, the government faced a significant setback when the Court of Appeal rejected the request to temporarily halt the orders preventing the state from deducting housing levies from Kenyan citizens.
