Gang Coerces Cop Into Marijuana Use, Lands Officer in Hospital

A law enforcement officer in Murang’a County is currently in a hospital in an unconscious condition, following an assault by a group of criminals who compelled him to consume two joints of marijuana.

As per the unexpected findings detailed in a local publication, a law enforcement officer, accompanied by two colleagues, conducted a raid in a neighborhood well-known for its involvement in drug trafficking.

When the police officers confronted the drug dealers, they found themselves overpowered, and two of them successfully fled the scene. Unfortunately, their companion was apprehended by the gang and coerced into smoking marijuana.

“The gang claimed that not even 20 minutes had passed since other police officers had arrived and taken bribes,” said a witness who was a boda boda operator.

He mentioned that the confrontation between the gang members and the police escalated into a violent situation.

It is claimed that two officers successfully departed from the location, while the one remaining was reportedly chased down and coerced into consuming marijuana against his wishes.

According to a report issued by the Murang’a police station regarding the incident, unidentified individuals assaulted the officer.

“We received reports that there was a clash between youth in one group in the neighborhood and plainclothes police officers,” said the police report as quoted by a local Swahili publication.

Mary Wakuu, the Police Commander for Murang’a East, stated that the matter is currently being investigated, and efforts will be made to locate and apprehend the individuals involved.

Ms. Wakuu mentioned that security officers have been closely monitoring the Kayole neighborhood for a considerable period because of issues related to drug trafficking.

“It’s a neighborhood that we must clean up. I also warn the police to be prudent and ethical in their work. All these matters will be investigated, and a comprehensive report will be prepared,” said Ms. Wakuu.

She stated that they would look into the claims of the three police officers soliciting bribes to determine the accuracy of the allegations.
