Gachagua’s Allies Explode in Fury as NCIC ‘Witch Hunt’ Sparks Uproar: Stop Protecting President Ruto
Lawmakers supporting Rigathi Gachagua have strongly criticized the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) for issuing a warning against the former Deputy President.
Led by Gatanga MP Edward Muriu, the group of legislators accused the NCIC of being selective in how it carries out its duties. They argued that the commission should be neutral and ensure that all politicians, regardless of their party affiliations, are held responsible for any remarks that could disrupt national unity.
“We are asking NCIC to apply its authority fairly so that every leader, no matter which political side they support, is held accountable if they make statements that could harm national unity,” Muriu stated.
Tetu MP Geoffrey Wendeto also supported Muriu’s stance, saying that NCIC has been lenient on some leaders from the Kenya Kwanza government who have also made controversial public remarks.
“Institutions such as NCIC are crucial in maintaining peace and unity in the country. However, they must work fairly and without any bias. Justice should be upheld at all times,” Wendeto remarked during a press conference on Tuesday, March 4.
Their concerns came a day after NCIC issued a formal warning to Gachagua, instructing him to stop making statements that go against the National Cohesion and Integration Act No. 12 of 2008.
According to the NCIC, Gachagua has repeatedly violated the law, which forbids discrimination based on ethnicity, race, or religion.

The commission particularly pointed out Gachagua’s claim that President William Ruto was planning to remove Chief Justice Martha Koome from office because of her ethnic background. NCIC stated that such remarks were misleading and could fuel ethnic divisions, which might create tensions among Kenyans and disrupt national peace.
The commission highlighted Gachagua’s comments from February 23, made during a church service in Antubetwe-Kiongo Ward, Igembe North, Meru County.
During this event, Gachagua strongly criticized President Ruto, accusing him of trying to weaken Mount Kenya’s political influence.
However, Gachagua’s allies defended him, saying he was only standing up for the interests of his people and should not be unfairly targeted.
Meanwhile, the political scene in Kenya continues to change, with Gachagua forging closer alliances with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Azimio presidential running mate Martha Karua.
On Tuesday, Gachagua met once again with Kalonzo, Karua, and Eugene Wamalwa, the DAP-K party leader. He said their meeting was focused on discussing ways to ‘liberate the country.’
