Gachagua: Kindiki Almost Assassinated Before Ruto’s Presidency

On Thursday, May 11, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claimed there was a plot to assassinate Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki a day before former IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati announced the presidential election results.

Gachagua, speaking at the launch of Defence CS Aden Duale’s book For The Record. Claimed that President William Ruto’s chief agent in the 2022 elections would be eliminated on August 14, 2022.

He claimed that the plot was part of a scheme to thwart Ruto’s rise to power.

However, the DP did not identify the conspirators and was coy about whether Kindiki filed a police report.

“Today’s Minister of the Interior is Professor Kithure Kindiki, who may or may not write in his autobiography that he was nearly assassinated on August 14,” he said.

Gachagua added, however, that many of their allies were offered money to abandon Ruto before the elections, a futile effort.

“It is true, as Kindiki stated, that we have little regard for money. If this team had accepted financial offers, these individuals would be billionaires.

“Money was offered left and right for Ruto’s betrayal, but great men refused,” he said.

Notably, Kindiki had avoided the claims in his speech before Duale took the microphone.

Ruto did not comment on the matter. And commended his allies for remaining loyal despite efforts to sabotage his presidential campaign.

On January 18, however, Ruto alleged assassination plots against Wafula Chebukati. The former chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

“We all know there was a direct attempt to kidnap and murder Wafula Chebukati to paralyze the commission,” the President told them.

His statements did not sit well with the leaders of Azimio. Who dared the Head of State to record a statement with the police.

“There is no evidence that Chebukati was the target of an assassination plot; if Ruto has evidence to the contrary, he should turn it over to the police for investigation and arrest of those responsible.” Raila Odinga, former prime minister and leader of the Azimio La Umoja party, responded that it was political.
