Gachagua Fires Back at Ruto’s ‘Complaints’ Over Opposition Party Launch- “Where Did You Get 4 Hours To Listen To Us?
The former Deputy President has replied to President William Ruto after he criticized him and other opposition leaders for attending the launch of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP).
On Friday, while addressing a gathering in Taita Taveta County, President Ruto took a swipe at Gachagua, PLP leader Martha Karua, and others, accusing them of spending four hours at the event just talking about him.
Ruto questioned whether the new party was being formed in his name, expressing his surprise that his name dominated their discussions.
“I saw some people coming together, saying they are forming a party. But in the four hours they were there, all they did was talk about William Ruto. Is the party they are launching named William Ruto? Is their agenda, their vision, and their plan all about me?” Ruto asked.
On Sunday, March 2, Gachagua hit back at the President, asking him how he managed to find four hours to listen to them instead of focusing on his duties.
“William Ruto, I heard you complaining that we talked about you for four hours. But where did you get the four hours to sit and watch us? If you are spending all your time watching our speeches, when do you work for the people of Kenya?” Gachagua asked.

He went on to explain that they indeed have plans for the country, but their top priority is to remove Ruto from office.
“It’s not that we lack a plan—we do have one. But the first and most urgent task Kenyans have given us is to remove you. Without removing you, we cannot implement our plans,” he said.
Gachagua further outlined some of their objectives, which include ending extrajudicial killings, revamping the healthcare system, and stopping the affordable housing project.
“One of our priorities is to put an end to abductions and extrajudicial killings, which you are responsible for. Another key issue is restoring our broken healthcare system, which has been ruined under your leadership. But we cannot fix these problems while you are still in power.
“Additionally, we want to stop these commercial housing projects you have introduced because they are hurting workers. We want to protect the dignity of the payslip. So, Mr. President, we have many plans, but removing you is the first step before we can implement them,” Gachagua added.
