“From Hyena to Angel? Not a Chance!” Raila Odinga Rejects Gachagua’s Offer, Says He Won’t Be Deceived
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has made it clear that he will not join forces with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking on Wednesday, March 19, during an Iftar dinner in Upper Hill, Nairobi, Odinga said he is confident in his decision and the direction he is taking.
Odinga Questions Gachagua’s Intentions
The ODM Party leader questioned why Gachagua, who has criticized him in the past, now wants to work with him.
“We know the decision we have made, and we know where we are going. Some people want us to change course, but yesterday they were calling us hyenas. Today, they suddenly see us as angels. How can someone turn from a hyena to an angel overnight? We will not be deceived,” said Odinga.
Odinga Urges His Supporters to Stay Strong
Odinga told his supporters to stay firm, saying he is confident in his political journey. He also reminded them that Gachagua once claimed to have set traps to block his path to the State House.
“We ask our people to stand strong because we are sure we will reach our goal. But we don’t want hypocrisy. Someone who once said he set traps for us is now caught in them,” he added.
Gachagua’s Offer to Odinga
Gachagua has previously extended an olive branch to Odinga, expressing his willingness to work with him ahead of the 2027 general election. The former DP even claimed he could help Odinga win the Presidency in the next election.
However, with Odinga’s latest remarks, it seems he is not ready to accept the offer.
