“Four-Star Brat” Fury! Ugandan Protesters to Storm Kenyan High Commission Over Explosive Muhoozi Insult
A controversy is growing in Uganda following a newspaper article that referred to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Ugandaโs Chief of Defense Forces, as a ‘four-star brat.’ The article was published by a local newspaper, The Standard, and has sparked anger among Muhooziโs supporters.
On Friday, members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) announced their plan to stage a demonstration at the Kenyan High Commission in Kampala next week. They are protesting against what they believe is unfair and disrespectful treatment of Muhoozi.
The protest stems from a headline in The Standard newspaper titled, “Four-star brat: Why Muhoozi tweeting General could fuel anger and division in DRC talks.” The article included images of Muhoozi wearing his military uniform.
PLUโs General Secretary, Daudi Kabanda, said the protest will take place on Wednesday. He insisted that their group will not remain silent over what they see as an attack on their chairman.
Kabanda shared his views on X (formerly Twitter), saying, โPLU will hold a strong demonstration at the Kenyan High Commission next Wednesday. Last year, our High Commission was burned, and we did not react. Now, one of their newspapers has insulted our chairman. This time, we will not stay quiet.โ
The PLU claims that the newspaper article unfairly targeted Muhoozi, who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations.

This controversy follows Muhooziโs tweets regarding the violence against the Tutsi community in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In several posts, he stated, โMy office will soon begin checking all media houses. These are the orders of the commander-in-chief. From now on, all media houses will report to my office! We are also preparing military training for all media house directors.โ
This situation has added tension to ongoing diplomatic issues between East African Community (EAC) countries.
Muhoozi has said he does not need to act on the matter himself, as he believes President William Ruto will handle it. However, neither Ruto nor his office has made any public statements about the issue.
If the planned protests occur, it will be the second major demonstration after the protests that followed the abduction of opposition leader Kizza Besigye in Nairobi.
President Ruto, who is the current Chairperson of the EAC, is working on finding a solution for the conflict in eastern DRC. This week, fighting in the region intensified again. On Thursday, there were reports of explosions at a rally held by the M23 rebel group, increasing concerns about the ongoing violence.
