Former MP Alfred Keter Reveals Interrogation Over Ties with Gachagua and Uhuru, Alleged Arms Trafficking

Former Nandi Hills MP, Alfred Keter, revealed on Monday that he was interrogated about his connections with former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following his arrest on Sunday.

During his appearance at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters, Keter mentioned that the police questioned him about his alleged involvement in trafficking arms to Congo, which they suspected him of.

Keter stated that during his arrest, he was asked about his relationships with former President Kenyatta and the current Deputy President.

He firmly believed that the actual reason for his arrest was his opposition to the anti-Finance Bill protests occurring in the country.

Keter argued that his arrest was a form of intimidation due to his recent criticisms of the government.

“Let us follow the rule of law but do not silence us through intimidation,” he added.

He further accused the Kenya Kwanza government of not fulfilling its campaign promises to the Kenyan people.

Keter also criticized the government for misrepresenting facts and ignoring the genuine concerns of the citizens.

His statements came after a dramatic arrest that caused public outrage, as officers forcibly removed him from his SUV.

As Keter was being arrested, his family was distressed, with some members screaming in shock.

The politician and his family were returning from church.

Later on Sunday evening, the DCI confirmed the arrest, stating that Keter had been under surveillance for charges related to arms trafficking and incitement to violence.

President William Ruto, during a Sunday night interview, confirmed the arrest, explaining that it occurred because Keter failed to comply with law enforcement summons.
